Who is Red Hand?

Last year, Campari released its first ever short film entitled Killer in Red,  featuring the absolutely charming Clive Owen. Written and directed by Paolo Sorrentino (The Young Pope, The Great Beauty), the film was a massive hit amongst the brand fans and overall lovers of  film noir genre.

For this year’s edition, the iconic Italian alcohol brand is back with another short movie – The Legend of Red Hand- putting this time the spotlight on bartender’s talent and a mysterious “Red Hand”, masters of the world’s best cocktails.

Taking place in Milano, Campari’s founding city, we meet Mia Parc, a charismatic photographer, played by the renown actress Zoe Saldana. Directed by Stefano Sollima, the movie evolves around Mia and her ultimate quest: uncovering a secret mission to discover the mysterious figure of Red Hand, the craftsman of the best Campari cocktails ever. People say that you’ve never tried a Negroni before trying one made by Red Hand.

“Playing Mia Parc in The Legend of Red Hand was a fantastic experience, allowing me to delve into a world steeped in mystery and intrigue through my character and her mission for perfection. Being part of a campaign that not only has a great legacy, but for a brand with such rich iconic heritage is always such a pleasure, particularly with a partner such as Campari who recognise that behind a great cocktail, there is a great bartender and without the participation of amazing hands, the ingredients wouldn’t quite live up to their fullest potential” explains Zoe Saldana.

While waiting to meet your own version of Red Hand behind a bar counter, you can still try to reproduce the popular Campari based recipe at home:

  • 1 ounce gin
  • 1 ounce sweet vermouth
  • 1 ounce Campari
  • Orange twist, for garnishing
  1. Into each pre-chilled glass, pour the gin, vermouth, and Campari.
  2. Fill each glass with large ice cubs. Adding the ice last prevents over-dilution of the alcohol.
  3. Stir gently to combine, and garnish with the orange twist.
