Piper-Heidsieck Returns for 90th Oscars

Tonight, more than 800 magnums of Piper-Heidsieck will be served at the 90th annual ceremony of the Academy Awards. Which means that around 8500 glasses of champagne will be heard clinking inside the Dolby Theatre, as the A listers of the big screen celebrate the best of cinema this year.

To mark this milestone year, Piper-Heidsieck has created a limited edition magnum bottle commemorating the Golden Age of Hollywood. With a 360-degree golden appliqué mirroring the Art Deco architecture of legendary Los Angeles theaters like the Crest, Pantages and the Wiltern, each bottle is also engraved with “90th Oscars” in golden lettering.

The 2018 Academy Awards season marks the fourth year of a long-term partnership between Piper-Heidsieck and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. In addition to the awards ceremony on March 4, Piper-Heidsieck Champagne will be poured at Academy events in Los Angeles, New York and London, including the Oscars Nominees Luncheon on Feb. 5, as well as the Governors Ball.

“The love story between the cinema and Piper Heidsieck goes back many years. Actually, the first bottle of champagne that was feature on the big screen was a bottle of Piper Heidsieck in a Laurel and Hardy feature. And of course, you have that famous quote by Marilyn Monroe declaring that she used to start each day with a glass of our champagne” declares Benoit Collard, Global Executive Director of the brand.

It is actually the chef Wolfang Puck -who is a huge fan of  Piper Heidsieck Cuvee Brut and has been the official chef of the ceremony for many years now- who helped seal the deal between the Academy and the famous French champagne house.

” The food that Wolfgang creates is perfect to be paired with our champagne. It simple but yet refined, like that Oscar shaped bite filled with caviar. You can spend the night holding a glass of Piper Heidsieck while feasting without any worries” adds Collard.

“When you decide do open a bottle of Piper Heidsieck, you choose to create a moment. No one really  drink champagne by himself, and even there, it’s because you want to celebrate something or shook up the routine. We like to be a part of the best moments in your life” he concludes.
