After shooting our beauty review for masks, Shayna slipped into something more comfortable and talked about her own beauty tips, her experiences with modeling, and more.

Scouted at a farmer’s market at age 13, Shayna McNeil signed with Mode Models International and immediately kicked off her career. Modeling she notes can be “an intimidating industry,” but despite its challenges, she truly enjoys working with “creative individuals and meeting new people at every job.”

After shooting stunning beauty imagery for Dress to Kill, her beauty secrets are straightforward: “always keep your skin moisturized,” she states. Shayna swears by this golden rule of hydration, explaining that the “products go on a lot easier if my skin is hydrated,” and noting the importance of “drinking lots of water.” Suitable for the shoot, her go-to beauty products are “clay masks because I find they really clean and decongest my skin,” and her preferred glam go-to is “Marc Jacobs Dew Drops – it smells so good and highlights really beautifully.”

A beauty regime is key, as one of the biggest perks of model-life is travelling. She confesses that globetrotting is one of her favorite parts of the job (even if at times it can be tiring). Just two months after signing with Mode, she was off to Singapore. She spent a summer in Tokyo and she loves going to NYC. Typically, there are a handful of necessities that jet-setters can’t live without when travelling, Shayna however, reveals that she always carries “a disposable camera in my bag,” adding that it’s “so exciting to see the pictures once they have been developed.”

As she begins to blossom and with such a career on the horizon, she stays grounded about what really matters. She exposes the one true thing she can’t live without is her friends and family, concluding that she “can’t imagine what I would do without them.”

As a model to aspire to, she looks up to Bella Hadid, claiming that her “list of work is so impressive,” and thinks that “she has great personal style.” Her own career dreams include her staring in a Victoria’s Secret runway, stating that the show is “like the Olympics of the modeling industry; it would be amazing to work for them.” From that day at the market to a summer in Tokyo, this budding beauty is beginning to establish her dreams, sharing a piece of her roots with us before taking off for fame.
