Paris sportswear meets New York streets in the latest collaboration between Lacoste and Opening Ceremony for Spring/Summer 2019. The designs flirt with Lacoste’s athletic-inspired codes and Opening Ceremony’s contemporary spirit for a versatile and colourful capsule collection of T-shirts, polos, a sweatshirt and a polo dress. The classic croc appears on all the pieces, embroidered in a glittering gold thread.

The collaboration arrives just in time for the spring season, echoing many of the trends that are characterizing the new season. Animal print, bright stripes, bold blues and colour blocking are all present in the line, seamlessly integrating into each of the brand’s own spring offerings. Each item makes for a fantastic styling piece, whether layering with other prints or pairing with a simple jean. The effortless sophistication of Lacoste has not been lost in this novel partnership, as Opening Ceremony’s creativity only enhances the French brand’s signature styles.

Opening Ceremony was founded in 2002 by two friends from UC Berkeley, Carol Lim and Humberto Leon. They’ve since built a cult following, adopting a multinational retail approach. Their stores stock both iconic and emerging homegrown designers, as well as their own collection. This is not the first time they’ve collaborated with well-known brands – they are also currently showcasing a partnership with Buffalo London, introducing a fashion-forward platform sandal and a hiking-boot inspired sneaker.

Lacoste saw it’s beginning in 1933, founded by tennis pro René Lacoste and his business partner, André Gillier. They revolutionized the classic tennis shirt, which has become the brand’s hallmark. Lacoste has also seen many collaborations, most recently with artist Keith Haring and a partnership with the International Union for Conservation.

The collection is now available in Opening Ceremony stores and will be launching in select Lacoste stores and on lacoste.com on April 15th.
