Housed in a 19th-century grey stone building in the heart of Quebec’s Old Port, Hotel 71 blends historic charm with modern amenities. Once the head office of the National Bank of Canada, as one of the taller buildings in the area, it provides excellent views of the St. Lawrence River from its upper levels and some of Quebec City’s most astounding perspectives on Place-Royale and the Château Frontenac. Discover the charming shops, cafes, gourmet restaurants, art galleries, the Museum of Civilization, Quartier Petit Champlain, Old Port,  and the Funicular to Upper Town, all located moments away from the hotel.

Easy access to Quebec City’s best attractions… It really doesn’t get any better than this!

Upon arrival, the refined decor ensures a warm welcome. Grand, lavish and spacious, the lobby features an intimate sitting area with comfy couches, a stunning candle setting, and beautiful bookshelves. The star of the lobby is undeniably the self-serve grand-cru wine bar – open until 3 AM, which I think every guest can agree, is very convenient!  Providing a boutique experience par excellence, this 60-room hotel offers contemporary rooms with a wealth of amenities: a Nespresso machine, a mini-fridge, a desk, free Wi-Fi, iPod docking, surround-sound system, a flat-screen TV, crisp white bedding, a plush feather duvet, an abundance of natural light and 4m-high ceilings. The minimalist rooms provide guests with exceptional comfort and a decadent and spacious bathroom that features glassed-in rainfall showers, robes, and upscale L’Occitane products – which we absolutely love! I had the chance to stay in one of the lofts which are open spaces with generous windows highlighting the incredible Château Frontenac.

The hotel also houses a fitness centre, the 71 Store (a boutique selling elegant home accessories and L’Occitane beauty products), and the stylish Italian restaurant, Il Matto. You’ll also have the chance to taste some of the best breakfasts in Qc, because your breakfast is included in the room’s rate. Additionally, the hotel supports the organization Vincent et Moi, an artistic support and socio-professional integration program for artists living with mental illness, and showcases their compelling work throughout the property.
