Fashion Editor Brenna Dixon has searched far and wide to bring you this season’s hottest trends, finding the best looks that graced the SS18 runways, from sparkles to plastics, fringe to pastels.

DAY DISCO

Sparkle surpasses the wee hours of the morning well into the day lighting up your summer style.  Pair your shimmer with something more subdued for daytime longevity think denim with a shimmery top, or sequin skirt with a sweatshirt.

CANDY COLOURED

This season’s sugary trend will hit your sweet spot. From prim and proper to feminine and frilly these pastel colour palettes are suited best with a dash of sass. If the head-to-toe look is overpowering at first, work your favourite shade in slowly with an accessory or iconic tee.

PLASTIC PLEASE

Clear, coloured, lined, wrapped and heeled, functional to futuristic plastic has made its way from Tubberware to Chanel.  Add your desired plastic piece singularly to add edge to an outfit- try a PVC overcoat paired with your classic camel trench, or a subtle plastic shopper tucked under your arm.

FRINGE FLING

So many swish worthy styles this season dangling from totes and swaying seductively from skirt hems. This style commands a ‘go big or go home’ attitude with fringes in luxurious fabrics from shoe tassels to shoulder kissing earrings.

COLOUR YOUR WORLD

(images: VERSACE/ TOMFORD/ MARC JACOBS)

Vibrant yellows to primary hues lit up the runways this season with Versace’s full look to Marc Jacob’s play with colour. Bright and bold, there’s a shade to suit everyone. Implement a saturated statement piece to get your style dose.

SHEER BLISS

Sheer skin revealing fabrics leave little to the imagination. Play with transparency by layering with a sheer wrap putting a focus on what lies beneath.

RUFFLED

“To disturb the smoothness of” is exactly what this ornamental design does so perfectly. Elegantly placed ruffles add romanticism and a femininity in layers like seen at Givenchy or to contrast that extra bit of grit at Saint Laurent.
