” I can be bolder than you realise. The world is in perpetual motion, and we must invent the things of tomorrow. One must go before others, be determined and exacting, and let your intelligence direct your life. Act with audacity”. – Madame Veuve Clicquot

Time to celebrate all the bold ladies out there!

Veuve Clicquot announces the 2018 Business Woman Award (BWA) to pay hommage to all the Canadian female leaders. The Veuve Clicquot BWA celebrates women around the world who embody the same business spirit as the founder of the famous Champagne house in her times.

When her husband died in October 1805, leaving her a widow with a three-year-old daughter, Madame Clicquot had to use her force of character to convince her father-in-law to let her manage the business. She was a true pioneer, who was always looking innovative ways to improve her products. She even invented the riddling rack, allowing a more efficient process of disgorgement for the final corking of Champagne bottles. It is still used by sparkling producers around the world.

Looking for women with the same passion, the New Generation Award, celebrating emerging female talent, between the ages of 25-35 years old, has been included to inspire conversations around collaboration and empowerment within the entrepreneurial community for young women.

This year, Veuve Clicquot Canada will be honoring one recipient from each category – the Business Woman and New Generation Award. In Canada, we shine a spotlight on the notable achievements of the country’s female entrepreneurs. Previous winners include; Jeannine Guillevin Wood (1984), Lise Watier (1986), Suzanne Bernard (1988), Christiane Germain (2013), Cora Tsouflidou (2014), Andrea Scott (2016), and Janet LePage (2016). This October, we will honour two female leaders at a ceremony in Toronto.

“We are so pleased to honour Madame Clicquot through the Business Woman and New Generation Award initiative, and celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit of Canadian women,” said Marie-Pierre Gonneville, National Public Relations Manager for the Moët Hennessy Portfolio, Canada. “We look forward to receiving all the incredible nominations and discovering the inspiring and powerful stories of Canada’s female entrepreneurs.”

Applications are open until the end of July and can be completed here.
