Get to Know
The beloved Canadian ready-to-wear brand and international success story has quietly been offering jewellery since their brand launched in 2015. To get up to speed, Beaufille is helmed by sisters Chloé and Parris Gordon and stocked at Net-A-Porter, Dover Street Market, and Moda Operandi amongst other major retail players. The name Beaufille translates to mean handsome girl, both an ethos and aesthetic that runs through the brand and everything they do. The duo expertly blends the masculine and feminine, the hard and the soft. Offering elegant and modern clothes that play with both proportion and cut.
It is no surprise that the brand would evolve to include a bigger jewellery selection, a category that their customers no doubt welcomed into their wardrobes. Parris a trained metalsmith and jewelry designer, has been adding these details to the fashion line since the beginning. And it would ultimately lead to a wider fine jewellery launch for their Resort 2018 collection. As they achieve with their clothes, striking that sought after feminine/masculine balance, the jewels never appear overly ladylike, but rather are pieces that can be worn with a t-shirt or a dress, to a party or a concert.
The F/W 2020 jewellery collection appears unique, fluid, edgy, and beautiful with that certain “cool girl” appeal. The line includes asymmetrical shapes, creeper earrings, chunky sparkle, and a multi-use Ventura chain that can be worn as a necklace, choker, bracelet, belt or anklet. The sure to a be a sell-out Pearl Ear Cuff was inspired by multi-use accessories and piercing culture, and the description of the Azara Hoops is the perfect fashion speak to excite fans: Like a bubble bath coming out of your ear; multi beaded cream pearls create bustling hoop earrings. The collection is now available for pre-order until February 23, 2020.
Here Lauren Walker-Lee speaks with Parris Gordon about the new collection
What is the inspiration behind the current jewellery collection?
Our FW20 collection is a bit of a ‘greatest hits’ collection, developed from the jewelry identity we have built over the past couple of years. The jewelry silhouettes are often inspired by flowers and plants alongside the Beaufille ethos of combining hard and soft, masculine and feminine to create unique harmony. This collection uses classic materials and colour ways (pearl, diamond, gold) translated in new fabrications and shapes.
How has your jewellery evolved?
We have experimented with all different types of jewelry over the years including sterling silver, fine jewelry, gold plated jewelry and large scale brass objects. The jewelry collections were previously more geometric and rigid in silhouette/shape. They are now more hand-made and organic in nature. There is a more prominent sense of freedom in the pieces; a sense of fearlessness in being different while still feeling familiar.
Who do you envision wearing the jewellery pieces?
There isn’t anyone I don’t envision in the pieces. I hope that the wearer falls in love with a style and feels a connection through the intention put in the piece they are drawn to. I envision all my pieces worn with jeans and a t-shirt, anything from our ready-to-wear collection or cocktail/formal attire.
