Thank you all for making great movies that make us dream, cry and laugh. Movies drive our imagination, encourage us to see the world with a new perspective, and tell stories that inspire us.”

On November 4th, Hamilton Swiss Watchmakers hosted for the 10th time the Hamilton Behind the Camera Awards in Los Angeles, turning the camera focus onto the unsung heroes of movie magic. The awards were both casual and celebratory, dedicated to praising the unique and extraordinary work of individuals who are often pervaded by the celebrity culture of the industry.

Founded in 1892, Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Hamilton’s first screen appearance was debuted in 1932 in the movie Shanghai Express. Calling Switzerland home since 2003, Hamilton watches are a pure representation of the American spirit combined with Swiss precision, creating unique and distinctive timepieces that complete characters. Today, having appeared in over 500 movies, from science fiction to action thrillers to superhero blockbusters, Hamilton has forged an unbreakable bond with Hollywood: “Our involvement in the creative process helps us create or provide watches that complete characters and advance the plot of a movie. We understand how much work goes on behind the camera.” Recently, Hamilton’s watches have made an appearance in movies such as Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, Interstellar, and The Martian.

For 2018, Hamilton once again celebrated their relationship with the movie industry, with award-winning Actor and Comedian Tony Hale, best known for playing Gary Walsh in Veep, hosting the celebration. Presenting the awards, and praising the commitment and talent of their colleagues, were some of the hottest names in Hollywood: Felicity Jones, John David Washington, Rami Malek, Ryan Gosling, John Krasinski, Jamie Dornan, Rosamund Pike, and Jake Gyllenhaal. Despite the star-studded attendees, award winners such as cinematographer Bob Richardson (A Private War), costume designer Mary Zophres (First Man), and sound designers Ethan Van der Ryn and Erik Aadahl (A Quiet Place) rightfully took the spotlight. During the awards, Hamilton also presented their movie creation Milestones, made in partnership with a group of talented students from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). The movie captured Hamilton’s past, present, and future and was devoted to the continuing world of movie making and for the next generation of innovators to come.
