Live the life you want and enjoy the present moment,
because we never know…”

The BODYBAG philosophy.

By Daisy Mellar

On November 16, Judith Desjardins and the BODYBAG team welcomed artists, partners, members, and media to the Stéréo Bar in Montreal, for a grand celebration of their 20thanniversary. The evening was emotionally-charged, with many references to the labels beginning, including a projection of BODYBAG’s first ever fashion show in 1998, as well as a reflective exhibition of previous collections and partnerships.

Judith Desjardins, premiered BODYBAG by Jude, after selling a few capsule collections to underground boutiques in NYC and Montreal. The first official collection was launched in Montreal on November 14, 1998. Though made entirely in Montreal, BODYBAG first found success in the US, with designs targeted at ravers and clubbers. However, the brand soon caught the attention of the Canadian fashion market and is now available in 38 retail outlets across Canada. Since its beginning, BODYBAG’s design aesthetic has rather changed – inspired by major trends and fringe culture, the brand upholds a fine balance of classic chic and edgy urbanism curated for stylish young professionals. Moreover, BODYBAG prioritizes that ”a fabric must be as beautiful eyes closed”– marking the value of wanting to WEAR the garment. True to this principle, all BODYBAG’s designs are executed with the finest quality fabrics, meticulous craftsmanship, and innovative detail.

Over the past twenty years, BODYBAG has continued to showcase its innate creativity and innovation, led by Judith Desjardins sharp intuition.
