The new Dior Autumn/Winter Haute Couture collection was exclusively revealed online through Le Mythe Dior film, directed by Italian filmmaker Matteo Garrone.

The magical, surrealist film makes references to both Dior and France’s history, transporting us first to the Dior atelier. We see 10 little dolls wearing Dior dresses, being packed into a trunk shaped like the historic Dior headquarters in Paris and carried over to a mystical, magical landscape by bellhops. The bellhops present the designs to an array of mythical beings, all avid lovers of Dior, like door-to-door salesmen. After making their rounds, the Dior atelier works on life-size versions of the designs for their new customers, imagining an idyllic world in which all of these creatures can wear and embody their favourite Dior couture. Designs come to life as if by magic in this fantastical, enchanting, and surrealist universe.
The film makes reference to the Théâtre de la mode, the French government’s initiative to promote French couture around the world in 1945. Artists and designers banded together to create miniature clothes for dolls, which were then shipped across the world to remind the world of the power of art in such difficult times, as well as to promote Paris as the Haute couture capital of the world.
