For Bart de Backer, Senior Head of Design HUGO Menswear, David Bowie was “a rebel spirit who lived life on his own terms.” For that reason, the capsule collection presents an opportunity for HUGO to celebrate the impact he had on the world.
The collection features pieces that are influenced by and reference Bowie’s “Berlin Trilogy” from 1977-1979, a body of work inspired by Berlin and consisting of his albums, ‘Low,’ ‘Heroes’ and ‘Lodger.’ One of the sweatshirts in the collection includes a tribute to his 1977 album ‘Heroes,’ featuring photographs of Bowie, as shot by Masayoshi Sukita for his album cover. The capsule collection likewise features accessories and t-shirts printed with the original slogan used to promote the album at the time – “Tomorrow belongs to those who can hear it coming.”
The collection dropped on January 15, 2020 both online and in HUGO stores as well as HUGO’s selected partner retailers worldwide. You can shop the collection online here.
