A MASH-Up of the eras
A/W2020 saw the Missoni Man take its cue from the evolving jazz scenes of the 70’s and 80’s, a period of cultural fusions and liberal vibrations. Spanning eras and genres, the new collection is a nod to unabashed glamour and eclectic Bohemianism, creating a look that is uniquely improvised, cool, and expansive.

Fabrications this season include soft delicate cashmere and cashmere-silk blends combined with alpaca, mohair, felted wool, brushed cotton and lamé blends to form an ensemble of sharp, modernist cuts and voluminous, oversized silhouettes. As always, the vibrant Missoni colour palettes in midnight blue and jade green, burnt amber and black, dark bordeux and military green are on show, and are further enlivened by pops of agate yellow, powder pink and electric blue.
Placing an emphasis on volume, this season sees light and airy knitwear feeling more like outerwear, featuring shawl-collar cardigans and bombers in animalesque patterns and patchwork – like heritage multi-stitch jacquards from the Missoni Archives. Other key pieces include: an oversized, softly-tailored, double-breasted coat in embroidered felted wool or backed loom-knit fabric; a caban coat with shearling shawl collar in a backed loom-knit fabric; a bomber in nappa leather with loom-knit inserts in lamé; a reversible car coat in a cotton and wool blend together with a viscose twill jacquard pattern that creates an ikat effect; a reversible hooded blouson; and shirting made in an exclusive cashmere pashmina fabric. Generously-cut, over-dyed trousers are inspired by loose-fitting military trousers and created in a patchwork of varying stitches.
The looks are punctuated by slick Chelsea boots and a revamped military boot, both in richly colourful exotic leathers that add the final articulation to the rhapsodic collection. Missoni expertly delivers a collection to craft an individualized style of improvised, diverse, and nonchalant elegance for the wearer.
