DTK’s To Kill For:
AMINA  MUADDI

If you haven’t heard of her, you’ve definitely seen her designs on celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Bella Hadid. Even our favourite fashion icon Rihanna has been rocking Amina Muaddi‘s unique and sexy square-toed heels and even commissioned Muaddi to design for FENTY. We promise you’re going to be absolutely and beyond obsessed with Muaddi’s designs.

           —By Luisa Tarantino

Now Paris-Based, Amina Muaddi spent her childhood between Jordan, Romania, and Italy. She studied at the European Institue of Design in Milan and worked as a stylist for L’Uomo Vogue and GQ. She realized that designing shoes was the perfect outlet for her creative expression and vision, leading her to take off to the Riviera del Brenta, which is Italy’s iconic shoe-making district, to work with and learn from world-class artisans and suppliers. She founded her first co-owned shoe brand Oscar Tiye, then moved to Paris to collaborate with Couturier Alexandre Vauthier for the launch of his shoe line, which Muaddi still designs to this day.

As mentioned above, in 2019, Rihanna commissioned Muaddi to help with the design of the footwear for FENTY. Seeing as the FENTY’s footwear line has had huge success, and that brands around the world are producing their own knock-offs, it’s fair to say that the buzz around Muaddi is more than warranted. Today, Muaddi is focusing on growing her own brand with shoes designed in Paris and produced in Italy.

It’s impossible not to be intrigued by Muaddi’s designs, be they under her own brand or through her collaborations. Her designs are equal parts glamorous, sexy, and fabulous, yet their impeccable design and quality add a touch of class and refinement, attesting to Muaddi’s years of studying and working with the best artisans and suppliers. And whether you like the square-toe heel or not, we’re sure you can’t help but look and admire — Muaddi’s heels can add an extra touch of flair to any outfit, and can even work as the statement piece for a number of looks.

Muaddi’s designs combine architecturally interesting elements with bold colours and details, and the heel makes for a comfortable enough base for a pair of stilettos. Although trendy right now, we believe that Muaddi has managed to cement her own fashion-forward iconic look and touch — we’re sure the cult popularity will only grow from here. Whether a matte monochromatic heel, or a heel with a flurry of feathers and sparkle, Muaddi’s designs are definitely to kill for. There’s nothing like an Amina Muaddi designed heel, and we can’t wait to see what she does next.
