H&M x Giambattista Valli
A master at glamour with couture-like sensibilities, Giambattista Valli has created the most dreamlike collection for the fast fashion retailer. For what will be their 19th designer collaboration since 2004 (it all started with Karl Lagerfeld) the collection will launch November 7th in select stores and online. This latest designer collaboration was announced during the Cannes Film Festival, when supermodel Kendall Jenner stepped out in a frothy pink number signalling to many fashion fanatics that it was time to mark their calendars.

The Giambattista Valli x H&M collection includes womenswear, menswear, and accessories with couture inspired pieces, ranging from hoodies and t-shirts, to tulle dresses, ruffle blouses, and beautiful embroidered gowns. This partnership marks Valli’s first foray into menswear, and offers a more fluid and pared down take on his usually ultra feminine Valli girl aesthetic. In addition to the beautiful gowns and separates Valli makes for his Valli girls, he created gender neutral hoodies adorned with with florals and his signature pearls, which can easily be borrowed from the boys. Leopard print appears in both the women’s and menswear, and both sequins joggers and bleached cargo pants crossover into both categories.
In Glam-battista fashion, the collection was presented at the majestic Palazzo Doria Pamphilj in Rome. “I imagined the story of a Roman girl who after traveling the world—to L.A., Berlin, India, London, wherever—comes back here to spend a fun weekend with her crowd of talented, artsy friends,” Valli said. The collection appears cosmopolitan and uplifting, in line with what is going on within the fashion world at a wider level, connecting street style to luxury with couture like touches.
Here we take a look at a few of our favourite looks and peak behind the scenes at the making of the campaign.
