The world of fashion has found its muse in hit-making Brit singer, Dua Lipa. Not only has her single “New Rules” broke hundreds of records – most recently for most weeks on the US pop charts (42) – but she has consistently made headlines for her street and stage style. The singer has championed both high street fashion, independent labels and runway couture, truly embodying what it means to be a style icon. It was through Dua Lipa that I found my latest Instagram-obsession, Olivia Rose The Label.

Olivia Rose The Label is an independent British brand founded in January of 2017 by British designer, Olivia Rose Havelock. The label offers a range of dresses, pants, and blouses, all hand-made to order by Olivia herself.

The standouts from her collection are the blouses, which Havelock is able to combine several of the Insta-appropriate trends favoured by millennials across the globe. We’re talking off-the-shoulder, puffed sleeves, smocking, and tie-front. It’s a modern take on the amalgamation of Marie Antoinette, milkmaid, and vintage-inspired trends that are reflected in our feeds by bloggers, models, celebs and friends alike. What sets them apart from the fast fashion trend pieces is their versatility: because of Havelock’s attention to detail and careful production process, each piece can transition flawlessly from brunch to the office to after work drinks to festival attire.

While the brand only has around 5k followers on Instagram, but fans include Vogue, Man Repeller, Elle, WhoWhatWear, model Gabrielle Caunesil, and Instagram star Jessica Anne Woodley. The magnitude of the label is extremely impressive, considering that Olivia Rose can only accept up to 30 orders per week since it takes around 4 hours to craft each piece. The brand prides itself on its made-to-order model, ensuring that no fabric or resource is wasted during production.

The collection consists of shades of white, bubblegum pink, crimson and black, in beautiful shapes perfect for summer. The price is extremely reasonable considering that each piece is designed, cut, sewed, steamed, labeled, packaged and shipped along with a personal handwritten note by the designer herself out of her studio in Edinborough, Scotland.

As the UK continues to grow their industry, seemingly becoming a more exciting place for fashion than New York, we’re sure that this is only the beginning for the young label. As individuals start to gravitate towards sustainable fashion, local labels and, of course, Instagram-worthy styles, we’re sure that Olivia Rose is on the edge of a big blow-up. Get your orders in while you can!
