Nicolas Ghesquière Louis Vuitton

With summer coming to a close, Nicolas Ghesquière’s collection gave one us last touch of warmth with his Summer Spring 2020 Women’s Collection.

By Denada Skera

An exuberant reminder of the Belle Époque-era of France. Ghesquière, who is no stranger to stepping back to move forward, showcased the designer‘s deep understanding of the cultural importance of the era. Pouf sleeves and iris boutonnières graced the runway while tongue-in-cheek plays on pop culture references graced monogramed tote bags with stacked cassette tapes. Ghesquière’s ode to an era, which many might not be familiar with, enchants with a slight nod to a more familiar ‘70s Biba through psychedelic swirls on jacquard coats. Demonstrating the designer‘s unparalleled ability to travel through time without a butterfly effect. Guests such as Alicia Vikander, Ruth Negga, and Justin Timberlake are left with a world of discussion on the perception of time and its ability to move forward.
